National Super Alliance (NASA) lawyers claim that ballot materials used in the August elections might not have been printed by Dubai-based Al Ghurair firm.
Making his submissions at the Supreme Court during the ongoing presidential petition, Siaya Senator James Orengo stated that some of the ballot papers lacked some crucial features indicating that they could have been printed locally.
Orengo, who appeared for NASA leader Raila Odinga, alleged that they had conducted an analysis of the papers and noticed that they lacked some of the security features that were supposed to be included.
The Senator further questioned documents the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) had submitted to the court.
According to NASA's legal team, the papers including forms 34A and 34B did not meet the constitutional requirements such as bearing signatures and proper serials from the polls body.
“The commission had specified these features to be on the two forms as a way of protecting the integrity of the elections. But here is a case where these documents lack these features and were brought before the court,” stated Orengo.
Some of the other requirements which were supposed to be in the ballot materials include anti-copy features and water marks.
During the same proceedings, lawyer Otiende Amollo revealed the formula that was allegedly used by President Uhuru Kenyatta's team to rig elections.
Making reference to an affidavit by NASA's ICT and Statistics expert Dr Nyangasi Onduwo, Amollo claimed the formula ensured Kenyatta and Odinga maintained a constant gap throughout the tallying period.
According to the affidavit, the formula used was: Y = 1.2045x + 183546, where Y represents President Kenyatta's votes while X represents the NASA leader's votes.
