President Uhuru Kenyatta's Party in Westlands That Cost Millions

New details have emerged indicating that President Uhuru Kenyatta and a section of Jubilee party politicians and cabinet members splashed Sh3 Million on an after-party following his swearing-in.

President Kenyatta, his deputy William Ruto, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko and the President's Personal Assistant Jomo Gecaga are said to have funded the all-night party at Galileo Lounge, Westlands - Nairobi.

The area remained cordoned off for most of Tuesday night with heavy security detail manning the highway.

Unlike the formal celebration at State House that was attended by Heads of State, the Westlands party was open to members of the public who had been exclusively invited.

The President is said to have parted with Sh1 Million to fund the party, his deputy contributed Sh700,000 while Governor Sonko and Mr Gecaga gave Sh500,000 and Sh250,000 respectively.

The organisers of the party have also conveyed that the party was in honour of those who had worked tirelessly to ensure victory for the President.

The party went on until early Wednesday morning and the President later met with South Sudan President Salva Kiir and Deputy Prime Minister of Congo-Brazaville Firmin Ayessa, who conveyed a special message from President Denis Sassou Ngueso.

The President will on Thursday oversee his first State function as a second-term President. He will be Commissioning Parade of General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets in Lanet.

President Kenyatta has also received congratulatory messages from the United States and the United Kingdom.

A keen focus has now turned to his expected cabinet appointments with many speculating that a number of political figures who played a role in securing the President's victory will feature in the new appointments.
