Court Finally Makes Decision on Anyang' Nyong'o's Security

The High Court has ordered the government to reinstate Kisumu Governor Anyang' Nyong'o's security detail immediately.

The decision was made on Monday and the court further stated that Nyong'o and his deputy, Mathew Owili, were entitled to security until a case the duo filed against the State is heard and determined.

The Governor and his deputy moved to court last week to challenge the withdrawal of their security detail.

Through their lawyers Victor Obondi and Stanley Ogejo, the two leaders wanted the court to compel the State to reinstate their security.

Security officers guarding them and their residences were withdrawn five days ago under unclear circumstances.

Last week, NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka also got a reprieve after the High Court blocked the government from withdrawing his security detail and revoking his firearm.

Lady Justice Roselyne Aburili also barred the State from arresting Mr Musyoka in respect to having the firearm.

Kalonzo sued the government for revoking his firearm certificate and withdrawal of security detail.

In the case, he sued Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang'i, Inspector-General Joseph Boinnet, the Chief Licensing Officer Central Firearm Bureau and the Attorney General.

The Wiper leader faulted the January 30 directive to withdraw his security at his residences and revoking his firearm certificate as unreasonable and illegal.
