Government Surrenders Miguna Miguna's Passport to High Court

The Government on Wednesday surrendered Opposition politician Miguna Miguna's passport to the High Court.

Director of Immigration Services Gordon Kihalangwa gave up the document in adherence to the court's ruling that had revoked the lawyer's deportation to Canada.

Justice Luka Kimaru declared that the Opposition leader was free to return to the country but without his official travel documents, the endeavour would be futile.

While deporting Miguna, the Ministry of Interior alleged that the self-proclaimed General had used an illegitimate passport to travel to Kenya claiming that he had earlier on renounced his citizenship.

The Canada-based lawyer, however, denied the claims and instructed lawyers to seek legal redress for what he termed as harassment from President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto.

Miguna sparked a confrontation with National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga after accusing economist David Ndii and NASA CEO Norman Magaya of colluding with the Jubilee party.

Mr Odinga defended the two luminaries urging Opposition supporters to ignore the National Resistance Movement (NRM) official.

In an interview with Turkish media on Wednesday, however, Miguna dismissed Mr Odinga's call warning that it would be perilous to the pursuits of the Opposition to disregard him.

"You can only ignore Miguna at your own peril, even Raila Odinga knows that. It is easier said than done. The youth in Kenya and in Nairobi will not ignore me, they listen to me.

"They are not going to listen to anybody saying ignore Miguna," he stated.
