Why Lawyer Donald Kipkorir Wants Sabina Chege to Resign

City lawyer Donald Kipkorir has expressed why he wants Muranga Woman Representative Sabina Chege to take a bow and resign from office.

This follows reports by the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti alluding to a “special relationship” between her and a man said to be conning Members of Parliament.

"In Civilized Societies, leaders resign for less transgressions and crimes," Kipkorir stated.

He further indicated that given the alleged connection between Sabina and the serial fraudster Benson Masubo Chacha, the MP has no choice but to resign.

Kipkorir concluded that "by omission or commission, she (Sabina) enabled Chacha to con her fellow MPs," hence the need to step down.

However, in an exclusive interview with Kenyans.co.ke on Thursday, Sabina clarified that the alleged connection was false indicating that the parliamentary committee would release a comprehensive report in the coming days.

"I am not related to the man in question. Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti said that the accused has a special relationship with the complainant but I am not the only complainant.

Sabina had accused police of failure to apprehend the conman who impersonated her and fleeced three Cabinet Secretaries and legislators via text messages.

"The man is not a member of my community and we have no relationship whatsoever," Sabina told Kenyans.co.ke.

The Murang'a county legislator gave a moving revelation in parliament on the man accused of soliciting money from several Members of Parliament who is still at large.

It was later revealed that other leaders including National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, former Gem MP Jakoyo Midiwo, CSs Peter Munya, Eugene Wamalwa and Margaret Kobia were also victims of the suspect.
