MP William Kamket Confirms Plan to Have Raila Endorse Gideon Moi

Tiaty MP William Kamket who was present at the meeting between National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga and former President Daniel Arap Moi at his Kabarak home has confirmed speculation that Baringo Senator Gideon Moi's planned 2022 Presidential bid was discussed.

Kamket revealed that discussions on Odinga endorsing Gideon in a race that would most probably pit him against Deputy President William Ruto for the Presidency indeed took place.

“There are discussions to have Raila endorse Gideon Moi in 2022, I can tell you that.

“I do not know how this will pan out, but I can tell you, in the meeting, 2022 was definitely in the picture,” Kamket is quoted by Nation.

Raila had earlier stated that he visited the former President to check up on him following his medical assessment in Israel and mentioned that they discussed the state of the nation.

KANU Secretary-General Nick Salat dismissed the notion that they were plotting against DP Ruto, only desribing the meeting as a welcome move.

“People should calm down. It was just a handshake! What is this panic about?

"What are people worried about? You mean Mzee can’t meet people? What we talk about is: Oh, he is fighting someone,” he stated.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen, an ally of Ruto, claimed on Saturday in Kericho that their attempts to book a meeting with Mzee Moi had been blocked by Gideon who controlled his schedule.

“There are those who have been asking why someone else (Odinga) has gone to shake hands with Mzee Moi yet local leaders are yet to. I want to reveal the truth to you today. As the chairman of Kalenjin MPs, I have time and again sought an appointment so we can go and visit Mzee.

"Ni ngumu(It is complicated). Those opportunities are given in bits like Panadol by his son,” Murkomen lamented.
