How Raila Odinga Outsmarted Kipchumba Murkomen During Visit to Moi

KANU Secretary General Nick Salat revealed that Opposition leader Raila Odinga outsmarted Elgeyo Marakwet Kipchumba Murkomen to visit former President Daniel Moi.

Salat on Thursday spoke of the claim by Murkomen that Baringo Senator Gideon Moi denied him and other Kalenjin leaders the chance to visit Moi at his Kabarak home.

"Raila outwitted Murkomen and his group by moving very fast to wish Moi well," the KANU official stated.

“He beat them hands down the moment he visited the old Moi. Murkomen and his group should not give the lame excuse that Gideon denied them entry to see Moi. They had all the time to visit Moi before Raila set foot there," he added.

National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale had earlier on maintained that politicians visiting the ailing former President should not expect to use this as a campaign tool for the 2022 election.

"Congratulations but this should not excite you," Duale stated during an address at Parliament.

"Your visit is just an extension of the handshake. Mr Speaker, today the handshake was in Kabarak it has moved from Harambee House," he added.

Murkomen had attacked his Baringo counterpart Gideon Moi over what he termed as lurking under the shadow of his father.

Speaking at the thanksgiving ceremony of Bureti MP Japhet Kiptergech in Kapkatet, Kericho County, Murkomen opined that Gideon was trying to ride his father's name to rise to the presidency.

Murkomen maintained they would embark on ensuring Deputy President William Ruto's victory in coming elections by delivering the Jubilee government's development agenda.
