Why Kalonzo Musyoka's Meeting with Former President Daniel Moi was Cancelled

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka's planned visit to retired President Daniel Moi at his Kabarak home last Friday was unfortunately cancelled.

This is after it emerged that Mzee Moi's diary was fully booked and could not accommodate the visit.

However, the Wiper Democratic Movement leader is set to visit the former Head of State later on this week after rescheduling of the visit.

According to reports by The Star, "Kalonzo's formal request was accepted and the meeting can take place anytime this week."

Reports further indicate that the Wiper leader's delegation will include Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu among other leaders.

Kalonzo had expressed his desire to meet Mzee Moi on April 14 shortly after he returned from an election observation mission in Azerbaijan.

"I also want to go and see Mzee Moi. We must open up space where we respect our elders and can go and even seek their opinions," Kalonzo said.

Kalonzo had further indicated that his visit would involve asking for blessing from Mzee Moi and Kenya's pioneer First Lady Mama Ngina Kenyatta as he plans to embark on a 2022 presidential bid.

Elgeyo Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen had in the past lamented that Baringo legislator Gideon Moi had been barring some sections of leaders from meeting his father.

The Wiper Party leader's visit comes shortly after NASA leader Raila Odinga visited Mzee Moi arousing speculations of possible President Uhuru Kenyatta’s 2022 succession plans.
