Alfred Mutua Threatens to Reveal Politicians Involved in Maize Scandal

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua on Saturday divulged that he intends to reveal key political figures involved in the maize scandal to President Uhuru Kenyatta

Speaking during a tree planting ceremony in Kalama, Machakos Town constituency, Mutua stated that he knows the people who are involved and they should all be held accountable for their actions.

"We know corruption cartels in the country are determined to fight back through thick and thin but they must know their time to siphon public funds through dubious deals is over," the County boss added.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Mutua exclaimed: "I have a list which I was given by investigative sources of the senior people and the amounts they have stolen, which ranges from Ksh10 million for a Senator, Ksh100 million for a Cabinet Secretary and another Ksh300 million for another senior leader.

"I believe Uhuru must also have the list. I am waiting for complete files and then will ensure Kenyans know who the real thieves are," the County boss told Kenyans.co.ke.

He further urged the Head of State not to relent in the war on graft challenging him to target "the big fish" in his administration.

"My call for an audit of the lifestyle of public officials to determine their suitability to serve has obviously rubbed some well-known lords of corruption the wrong way.

"However, I will maintain my firm stance against entrenchment of corruption in the country," the Maendeleo Chap Chap party leader noted.

In a recent report, a senior government official disclosed to the Standard that at least five Members of Parliament (MPs) are among 30 individuals under investigation over a Ksh1.9 Billion maize scandal at the National Cereals and Produce Board.

The prominent politicians are reported to have imported cheap maize from Uganda and delivered to the national strategic reserve amassing over Ksh700 Million in profits.

Also alleged to be part of the scheme is an aide to a top politician, senior government officials, and businessmen.

However, Mutua expressed reservations over the recent court ruling by the Court of Appeal which overturned a High Court ruling that upheld his victory in the gubernatorial election against former Kathiani MP Wavinya Ndeti who challenged his election in court.
