Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho Campaigning for Jubilee Party Election Losers

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has announced plans to campaign for Jubilee party politicians at the Coast who lost during the 2017 General Election.

Governor Joho outlined that he would use his newfound political friendship with President Uhuru Kenyatta to advocate for the politicians to be awarded State appointments.

"I am going to ask for jobs from President Uhuru Kenyatta for all those who supported Jubilee.

"I will tell him that they supported them and they should benefit because that is what politics is all about," he declared.

Those likely to benefit from Joho's advocacy include former Taita Taveta Governor John Mruttu, former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar, former Kilifi South MP Mustafa Iddi and the governor's former deputy Hazel Katana.

In his message on Sunday, the governor gave special gratitude to his former deputy governor for working with him in his first term.

"We never thanked you Hazel for the time you worked with us in the last five years but I would like to thank you for working with us. We appreciate you," the governor stated.

Speaking on the handshake he shared with the president during his visit to the county, Governor Joho emphasised that he would work hand-in-hand with the Jubilee administration.

"When I received President Kenyatta last week I said we used to talk at each other but we will now be speaking with each other and that is because of the good gesture my party leader Raila Odinga showed by initiating the building bridges project with Mr Kenyatta," he stated.

Governor Joho, however, reiterated that he would not relent in his push for the presidency in 2022.

He assured residents that he would battle it out with Deputy President William Ruto as the region's presidential torchbearer.
