6 Things Mudavadi Said About Ruto on NTV

ANC Party leader Musalia Mudavadi on Tuesday poked holes on the conduct and character of Deputy President William Ruto.

Speaking on NTV's Sidebar, Mudavadi engaged his host Ken Mijungu in raising various concerns and reservations on the behaviour of the DP.

The Hustler Tag

Mudavadi first found fault in Ruto's association with the tag "hustler" owing to the dictionary definition of the phrase.

According to the definition, a hustler is a person who is skilled or is proficient at illegal dealings or aggressive selling.

Owing to this definition, Mudavadi posed, "If you look at the full meaning of the word hustler... It is really not something you want to be associated with. You have to ask; is someone confessing to some issues?"

Investing in Heaven

The ANC questioned the sincerity in Ruto's donations to churches and whether it was out of sheer generosity.

Making reference to a recent remark where Ruto noted, "Nimejipanga na kanisa. Kwa sababu siezi kua hustler hapa duniani na niwe hustler mbinguni (I have plans to invest in church. There is no way I can be a hustler here on earth and continue as one in heaven".

"A statement like that seems to indicate that you are trying to buy your way to heaven. In the bible, do we invest with monetary or actions?" Mudavadi posed.

Quality Over Quantity

Faulting the urge to flaunt huge donations to churches, Mudavadi noted that although there is nothing wrong in contributing to church fundraisers, there seems to be an urge to make outrageous donations.

"You give what you can. It is not the quantity of the gift, it is the quality of the sacrifice you are making", Mudavadi added quoting about the biblical analogy of how Jesus praised the widow’s offering of two very small copper coins.

Money Bags

On DP Ruto's donations which are often delivered in cash, Mudavadi questioned where the country's second-most powerful government official banks his money.

"Let's face it. If you go to any bank, there is the issue of "know your customer". If you want to withdraw Kshs1 million in cash, you will be required to fill a form explaining the purpose of the money.

"If I go and start pulling bunches of Kshs5 million, Kshs20 million, Kshs10 million in cash, who is raising the questions?" he wondered.

The Guilty Ones Needs no Accuser

Addressing recent attacks by MPs linked to Ruto including Ndindi Nyoro (Kiharu), Kimani Ichungw'a (Kikuyu) and Kimani Wamatangi (Kiambu), Mudavadi questioned why the DP's allies were developing jitters at the mere mention of corruption.

"I have never mentioned anybody's name. The guilty are afraid. You must have heard about the famous saying that an old woman is always uneasy when dry bones are mentioned in a proverb," Mudavadi quipped.

Friend or Foe?

Speaking on his presidential ambitions and the 2022 General Election, Mudavadi ruled out the possibility of a coalition between him and the DP.

"I've made it clear that DP William Ruto is a competitor; we can remain friends but on this 2022 competition, we can not work together.

"I am telling Kenyans that I am offering myself when the time comes, to serve as President," Mudavadi concluded.
