Wajir Woman Rep Fatuma Gedi Reportedly Stole DCI Documents

Wajir County Woman Representative Fatuma Gedi is in hot water after reports emerged that she allegedly stole documents from the Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and leaked them to the media.

People Daily reported the documents revolved around her controversial sex tape that leaked a while ago depicting her copulating.

The paper further revealed that the legislator was aided by a parliamentary staff member to steal the documents in order to implicate four colleagues in the scandal.

If found guilty of the offence, the Woman Rep is likely to lose her seat, face prosecution or get suspended from House's proceedings.

The stolen letter had been written by the DCI and addressed to the Clerk of the National Assembly Michael Sialai. The detectives had asked the clerk to facilitate the four members to record statements and appear for questioning over the video.

The four legislators include Adan Keynan (Eldas), Abdihakim Osman (Fafi), Purity Wangui (Kirinyaga) and Rehema Jaldesa (Isiolo).

In their defence, the MPs claimed that Gedi had a dispute with them and only sought to settle scores.

This is, however, not the only scandal that the Wajir Woman Rep is embroiled in. She is facing accusations of illegally obtaining another document from the clerk.

She reportedly obtained an Internal Memorandum that sought advisory opinion from the House legal department on the appropriate action to take over the DCI letter to the clerk.

Appearing before the Powers and Privileges Committee on Tuesday, Gedi, however, claimed that she never forcefully obtained any letter but only sought to clear her name in the sex tape saga.

“I never coerced him to give me the letter. What I wanted is to clear my name which was very tainted because of this sex video yet I am a mother and woman," People Daily quoted her.
