Embattled lawyer and self-proclaimed revolution leader Miguna Miguna jumped to the defense of Citizen TV journalist Jeff Koinange after several people bashed the JKLive host for failing to control his interview with Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko.
Following the recent public spat the governor had with Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris during Madaraka Day, it featured in the interview which ended up being aborted.
Passaris walked away from the event after Sonko bashed her for claiming that the governor always ignored her calls.
After the heated conversation on Citizen TV, the show had to be stopped for a commercial break that extended to 10 minutes. The interview had to be cut short after the break, with Jeff revealing that it was due to editorial policies and quality controls.
Miguna, who was deported to Canada after swearing in Raila Odinga as the people’s president following a controversial election which Uhuru Kenyatta won, took to Twitter to defend Koinange, whilst proclaiming his wrath upon Citizen TV, Esther Passaris and Mike Sonko.
“On the aborted Mike Sonko interview, I stand with Jeff Koinange. Koinange does not own Citizen TV; SK Macharia does …,” part of Miguna’s tweet read.
The former Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant continued his scathing attack on the media house by condemning the act of terminating the interview.
“It's unethical to invite a guest for an interview then terminate it because of some dubious "editorial" and "quality control." Mike Sonko came prepared but Citizen TV clearly terminated the interview because you could not ensnare him,” Miguna tweeted.
“Both Mike Sonko and Esther Passaris occupy public office. They are not private citizens. The public has an absolute right to know how these 2 individuals spend/steal their taxes, exercise and/ or abuse power. Citizen TV should not conceal evidence of fraud by both,” he added.
Miguna previously made a similar attack on Passaris on Jeff Koinange’s show, which was then being aired by KTN.
Koinange ended his popular show JKL on KTN and later revived it at Citizen TV. What was supposed to be a debate on gubernatorial issues turned into a shouting match with constant vulgar language between both Esther and Miguna, but more from Miguna.
High Court Judge Justice Joseph Sergon later restricted Miguna from making further defamatory remarks against Passaris pending an inter-party hearing.
Miguna also aired his comments about the interview, dressing down the Nairobi Women Rep.
“This is my take home from the aborted interview: 1) Passaris' campaign was funded by Jubilee Party via Mike Sonko. 2) Passaris extorted Mike Sonko of tens of millions of shillings. 3) Passaris committed FRAUD through double Per Diems, air tickets, and other payments.” Miguna tweeted.
