On Sunday, National Rainbow Coalition of Kenya (NARC-Kenya) leader, Martha Karua, revealed how she angrily confronted President Uhuru Kenyatta, after the State Leader offered her a cabinet post, which she rejected.
Karua disclosed that Uhuru spoke to her after she lost the Kirinyaga gubernatorial election to Governor Anne Waiguru.
“It was a private conversation and the President spoke on offering me a cabinet post which I rejected. I informed him that I was not interested in being part of his cabinet because his people rigged me out.
“I informed him that I was interested in going to pursue electoral justice after I found out through an informer who refused to record a statement, that they added 48,000 votes to Waiguru’s votes,” Karua informed in an interview with K24TV's Anne Kiguta.
Kirinyaga Jubilee Party chairman, Mureithi Kangara, had reached out to the president asking him to give the former presidential aspirant a job.
Mureithi argued that during the 2017 elections, Uhuru had fielded both Anne Waiguru (now Kirinyaga Governor) and Karua for the race promising that whoever lost would get a state appointment.
Karua later went to court seeking to convince the court to nullify Waiguru's win. Waiguru, however, beat Karua in the supreme court battle.
In the ruling read by Justice Isaac Lenaola, he stated that Ms Karua had failed to prove her case beyond a reasonable doubt on claims that there was bribery in the Kirinyaga gubernatorial election in 2017.
The appellate judges ruled that the eloquent governor would continue carrying out her gubernatorial duties, citing that Karua failed to convince the court that she suffered prejudice when the IEBC failed to produce the Kenya Integrated Election Management System (KIEMS) kit.
On Sunday, Karua went on a rant of how the court favoured Waiguru.
“The court decision was final, but I think it was an unjust decision and they know it. I filed on time, but what the court was saying was that I came on time but they delayed their process and they have no remedy for me,” Karua blasted.
She went on to state that Waiguru was not fit to be governor as Kirinyaga was disorganised.
