Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria's tribulations escalated after media reports emerged that a section of powerful politicians within Kiambu County was orchestrating a move to oust him before 2022.
On Wednesday, December 18, media reports alleged that Kuria was faulted for over what the group claimed was constant disrespect of President Uhuru Kenyatta.
A rally to drum up support for Kuria's replacement is in the offing, spearheaded by the politicians allied to the head of state.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Kuria played coy on the issue and wondered if it was wrong to work with Deputy President William Ruto.
"Do I need any reason to work with the Jubilee deputy party leader and the deputy president of a Jubilee government? When did it get to that?" Kuria wondered.
On Tuesday, December 10, while on NTV, Kuria confessed that he was going through a rough patch in his life. He was prayed for by Kericho Senator Aaron Cheruiyot after he requested for a benediction.
Kuria also disclosed that he was not afraid of losing his seat as everything he did was in the best interest of his constituents.
"I was elected by the people of Gatundu South and I keep on asking them, even today I am going to speak to them, that when they get tired of me, all they have to do is inform me. I will not wait for the next election. I will resign and go.
"Political positions mean nothing to me. I can go back to the private sector and be a good citizen or I can open my own church," a visibly angry Kuria stated and later reiterated the same to Kenyans.co.ke.
"Strange times we are living in. I wasn't an ally to Ruto since November 2018. Two weeks of holding joint events with him and I end up trending daily with everyone telling me how I am disrespecting so and so and warning me that I will go the JM Kariuki way. Lord hear us," Kuria alleged on December 8, referring to the assassination of politician Josiah Mwangi Kariuki in 1975.
