Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho ignited a debate when he shared a photo in which he was wearing a Versace t-shirt on Monday, January 6, 2020.
Joho left netizens astounded as an online listing of the t-shirt indicated that its price was at $460.00. (Ksh 46,000)
The governor is known for his flamboyant lifestyle and flashy attire.
According to Lyst, an online shopping platform, the t-shirt is a black rainbow colour logo short-sleeve design.
However, the debate would veer off was to whether the t-shirt was unisex or designed for women.
More screengrabs from the website revealed that the listing on that particular website was designed for women.
"If it's true the t-shirt is worth Ksh 46,000...Ningeomba Joho anipee hiyo t-shirt nipeleke shule niwaambie waiuze watoe fee ya this term na next term then wakeep change (I would ask Joho to give me the t-shirt so that I can take it to my school, ask them to sell it to raise my feea)," one M Blessing reacted.
"The one Sonko had when he was arrested in Voi was Ksh 56,000. An annual secondary school fee!" Aidan Sango argued, recalling Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko's Versace t-shirt which also caught the attention of Kenyans.
"Ksh 46,000 is a gross salary for an average Kenyan. Life isn't fair," Lagat Lagat lamented.
"Joho and Sonko suffer from inferiority complex. People with the disease buy expensive clothes to cover some short-coming. Compare them with Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni governor) and John Lonyangapuo (West Pokot governor).
At a governor 's level I expect someone to be obsessed with public service delivery," Timothy Sato cried out.
