Kenyan comic Elsa Majimbo, on Sunday, December 13, continued her reign over the world after bagging an award from her role model.

The award, which was part of the annual YouTube Streamy Awards, was given to her by content creator Lilly Singh, popularly known as Superwoman.

Majimbo was awarded as Best New Comedy Creator of 2020 after her signature snappy comments while wearing shades and eating from a packet of chips went viral.

Singh, who admitted to being cracked up by Elsa, prepared a video card with a message to Elsa which she shipped to Kenya.

After watching her videos, Singh sent her a message saying that she loved her videos and Majimbo responded noting that she got some of her jokes from her (Lilly's) brand.

"I don't think you understand, half of the humour, I got from you. Like you made me grow up seeing so many things in light, funny and amazing ways. You are an icon," stated Majimbo in the personal message.

Singh confirmed that she was tasked by Youtube to give the honour to an awardee of choice and she chose Majimbo.

"When I messaged you I was honoured to learn that I inspired you. I remember when I was starting out I did not have a lot of equipment, resources or straight-up money.

"So Elsa, send me your PayPal information because I am going to personally support you with an equipment fund because I believe in you so much," stated Singh in the card video.

Majimbo accepted the award emotionally noting that she had not identified herself as a comedian.

"This is so nice, best comedian to come out of 2020. This is so amazing because I didn't even consider myself a comedian," stated Majimbo.

This is the latest award in Majimbo's fold after she won the E! People’s Choice Award in the African Social Star category.

She also worked as a brand ambassador for Fenty Beauty, ran by pop star Rihanna and was recently featured in Forbes Magazine.

She is currently studying journalism at Nairobi’s Strathmore University.
