2 Dead as Covid-19 Cases Rise to 100,675

112 individuals have tested positive for Covid-19 from a sample size of 5,401 tested in the last 24 hours. This takes Kenya's cumulative confirmed positive cases to 100,675.

In a statement on Saturday, January 30, Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced that since the start of the pandemic 1,183,212 samples have been tested for the virus across the country.

From the positive cases, 101 are Kenyans while 11 are foreigners. 59 are males while 53 are females.

The youngest of the cases is a four-year-old infant while the oldest is aged 76 years.

34 patients have been discharged after recovering from the virus. 22 are from various health facilities across the country while 12 are from the Home-Based Isolation and Care program.

The total recoveries now stand at 83,855.

Unfortunately, two patients succumbed to the virus in the last 24 hours bringing the total fatalities in the country to 1,755.

Currently, 481 patients are admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 1,370 are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

26 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 14 of whom are on ventilatory support and 12 on supplemental oxygen. 

Another 15 patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 12 of them in the general wards and 3 in the High Dependency Unit.

The cases have been distributed in Counties as follows ; Nairobi 68 , Uasin Gishu 13, Kajiado 8 , Mombasa 5 , Kilifi 4 , Busia 3 , Kiambu 3 , Turkana 2, Machakos 1, Marsabit 1, Baringo 1, Murang'a 1, Nyeri 1 and Siaya 1.
