Besieged President of the Football Kenya Federation (FKF) Nick Mwendwa, on Thursday, November 11, responded to Sports Cabinet Secretary (CS) Amina Mohamed's order to disband his team.

Speaking at La Mada Hotel in Nairobi, Mwendwa stated that he had no plans whatsoever to relinquish his position as the in-charge of football in the country.

He stated that he and his colleagues planned to defy the CS' order on their removal. He added that they would not recognise the 15-member caretaker committee appointed today.

"As FKF, we reject this committee. We rebuke it, and we will not accept it. No committee will take charge of Harambee Stars. FKF will be in charge," the ousted manager stated.

He insisted that the Sports CS had no capacity to disband the body given that they had been elected. As such, Mwendwa said that he and the committee would continue serving until the world football governing body, FIFA, gives its statement on the same.

The FKF President termed the move by the CS as unlawful, arguing that the CS should not have assumed the role of judge by concluding they had acted inappropriately.

"We have not been tried nor found guilty before any court of law," he stated.

Mwendwa revealed that the disbandment of the federation did not come as a surprise owing to recent friction between Amina and the body. The FKF boss accused the CS of trying to micro-manage football in the country.

When asked about a possible absence from office to allow investigations, he rubbished the idea.

"We shall continue with football. If anyone wants to come in between, let them come, and we will see what happens," he remarked.

Amina disbanded the federation after receiving a report on the investigations into the massive fraud reported at the body. She also appointed a caretaker committee to lead FKF.
