Kenyans.co.ke was ranked among the most read online news outlets in Kenya by Reuters, an international news organisation.
In the Reuters Institute Digital News Report 2021, Kenyans.co.ke was ranked as the third most preferred online news brand after Citizen Digital and Nation online.

In the ranking, Kenyans.co.ke was followed by KTN News, The Standard online, and NTV online.
The ranking was based on a survey that was conducted among online users from the age bracket of 18-50 years.
Kenyans.co.ke Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Robert Ndung’u stated that it was an honour to be ranked among the best in the country, further thanking Kenyans for their loyalty and choosing the website as their go-to news source.
“I want to thank our readers who have made this possible. This milestone has been achieved through collaboration between our editorial team, our social media team, and the video team,” he noted.
Additionally, the report findings indicated that 83 per cent of Kenyans use smartphones to access news on a weekly basis. This was despite the digital tax that was introduced in January 2021.
"Kenya leads the region in internet connectivity, mobile phone use, and social media engagement and this, in turn, has made the country a pioneer in both digital consumption and innovation.
“Our survey shows that most of our Kenyan sample (83%) use a smartphone," read the report.
In regard to the brand trust among Kenyans, the report also noted that a majority of Kenyans trust the news that they consume from the media.
"Trust in media is relatively high by international standards, with 61% saying they trust most news most of the time," read the report in part.
However, despite the great strides that have been made in the media, the newsrooms still faced challenges in 2021.
Among the challenges that faced the media was the digital disruption that had been occasioned by the pandemic that was first reported in the country in March 2020.
