National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has exposed a secret bank account allegedly being run by the National Super Alliance (NASA) to finance its campaigns.
Speaking in Naivasha where he had accompanied Deputy President William Ruto, Duale claimed that a section of governors had opened the suspicious account dubbed ‘County Affairs.’
Duale alleged that money was being channelled to the account by governors allied to the Opposition and was "illegally" funding NASA campaigns across the country.
He accused ODM leader Raila Odinga of remaining silent over graft allegations facing opposition governors since they fund his campaigns.
The Garissa Township MP announced that he had written to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), the National Treasury and the Office of the Auditor General to inform them about the account.
He further warned governors depositing funds into that account stating that they risked being prosecuted.
Responding to NASA’s announcement that they will set up a parallel tallying centre during the August 8 General Election, he dismissed the proposal as a "non-starter" maintaining that the constitution only allows IEBC to announce electoral results.
