Embu Business Man Sues DP Over Land Scandal

A business man from Embu is suing Deputy President William Ruto over the scandal surrounding the land on which the Weston Hotel is built.

The Nation reports that the businessman Martin Mureithi who is also an activist wants Ruto to disclose how he acquired the land.

Under a certificate of urgency, Mureithi wants the court to stop Ruto from dealing with the land, The Standard reports.

Mureithi says he is suing the Deputy President on behalf of all Kenyans.

He added that the suit is justified given that the Deputy President admitted to owning the hotel allegedly built on public land.

Until his case is heard and determined, Mureithi is asking the court to restrain Ruto and his agents from transferring, wasting or alienating the land in question.

The land been at the center of controversy after claims were made that it belonged to a primary school and that the owners of Weston Hotel had acquired it illegally.

While Ruto has admitted to having shares in the hotel, he maintains that the property is not built on public land.

Ruto says that contrary to the allegations, the hotel has the title deed to the land adding that the primary school has its own different deed.
