Second Attempt To Have Waiguru Impeached Fails

Speaker Justin Muturi has come out to confirm that the impeachment motion filed against Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru has failed to reach the required number of signatures as per the Constitution.

The motion fell short of the number after 17 legislators withdrew their signatures.

Two weeks ago, Nandi Hills MP Alfred Keter filed the motion to have Waiguru removed from office in reference to the National Youth Service (NYS) scandal where Sh791 Million is said to have been misappropriated.

This motion caused a bit of division in the Jubilee camp as some of the members refused to support him.

Waiguru has been continuously pressured to resign for investigations to be conducted into the disappearance of the Sh791 Million.

This is the second unsuccessful attempt to have Waiguru dismissed from office. The first one had been filed in May by Igembe South MP Mithika Linturi who failed to appear in the National Assembly to move his motion.
