Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has dismissed claims that he met former Prime Minister Raila Odinga at his office in Capitol Hill, Nairobi, a meeting alleged to be one in a series of many others he has been holding with Opposition leaders.
While responding to the claims, which appeared on a local daily, the flamboyant Senator took to his Facebook account where he rubbished the claims as a meagre propaganda. Sonko wrote that the claims were false and were just being propagated by those seeking the gubernatorial position on the Jubilee Alliance Party (JAP) ticket.
The Senator also responded by saying that he was free to meet with the CORD leader as other leaders have been meeting with the Opposition point-man too.
“Furthermore even if I am spotted with him (Raila) how does that become a problem? Even HE the president and his Deputy normally meet him on different occasions,” posed Sonko.
The Senator had posted photos of him wearing orange clothes, a colour largely associated with the Orange Democratic Movement ODM party. The Senator said those jealous of him putting on orange should wear red instead.
Consequently, the outspoken senator warned his competitors to stop using cheap propaganda in the hope that he will be subdued to step down. He instead asked them to lay out their policies to sell themselves.
“I want to tell any Nairobi politician behind this cheap propaganda that I will not step down for anyone in the Governors race,” added Sonko.
The race for the Nairobi's gubernatorial position has attracted many politicians especially from the Jubilee side which include former CS Anne Waiguru, TNA Chairman John Sakaja, businessman Jimnah Mbaru, former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru and Dagoretti North MP David Waweru.
