Uhuru's New Cabinet Secretaries Reveal Shocking Wealth

The seven nominated Cabinet Secretaries approved by the National Assembly on Wednesday, made their wealth declaration as required for persons undertaking public office.

Nominated Devolution and Planning Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri topped the list with an estimated net worth of Sh798 Million.

In a document presented to Parliament, the former Laikipia East MP unveiled that he owned land and buildings in Nanyuki, Sagana and Nairobi.

Following closely in second place was nominated Health CS Cleopha Mailu, who served as Chief Executive Officer at Nairobi Hospital, with a net worth of Sh615 Million as per December 2015.

Mailu who was earning a total of Sh67 Million annually at Nairobi Hospital, will see his salary slashed by over Sh50 Million.

Joe Mucheru, replacing Fred Matiangi as ICT CS, revealed that he had wealth amounting to Sh500 Million, with a deferred income (investments made yet to mature) of Sh267 Million.

Mucheru is the Google Sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) Ambassador who has excelled in the ICT field.

The immediate former Kericho Senator Charles Keter, who has been an MP for 10 years, put his wealth at Sh352.8 Million.

The report further unveiled that Sicily Kariuki, the nominated CS for  Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs, commands wealth estimated at Sh168.3 Million in investments, assets and salary.

On the other hand, Agriculture, Livestock and Fisheries nominee, Willy Bett, revealed that he had gathered wealth amounting to Sh127.5 Million from employment, farming and rental income.

Coming last in the list is former Malindi MP Dan Kazungu, who takes up the Mining docket, with his wealth standing at Sh100 Million.
