Kenya's Trending Topics on 2nd November 2017

Kenyans were on Thursday engaged in various heated discussions on social media including a tweet by President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Under the topic Nyashinski, netizens bashed President Kenyatta for a tweet his office shared declaring that he had voted for Kenyan rapper Nyamari Ongegu alias Nyashinski.

The official handle for the Presidency tweeted: "I just voted for @RealShinski. He gave us a great song. 'Namwoogopa Mungu Pekee' Let us all vote for him #LondonIsOpen."

The tweet was not received well by those who believed that the Office of the President should not concern itself with such matters.

The tweet that was shared on Wednesday evening continued to elicit high emotions well into Thursday leading to the Kenyan musician going viral.

The new incident adds to a series of less favourable receptions to activities President Kenyatta has been involved in.

On Wednesday, the President and his deputy William Ruto were similarly criticised after a visit to Westlands Primary School.
