Kenya's Trending Topics on 16th November 2017

Kenyans were on Thursday involved in heated discussions including former presidential candidate Martha Karua who renounced her endorsement of Deputy President William Ruto's bid for the Presidency in 2022.

Under the topic Martha Karua, the seasoned Kenyan politician lost her title as "iron lady" and was christened with "watermelon" title.

On the same breath, under the topic High Court, commentators discussed news that the Kirinyaga gubernatorial candidate had lost her petition challenging Governor Anne Waiguru's win.

The Supreme Court on Thursday entered its second day of hearing petitions challenging President Uhuru Kenyatta's election on October 26.

Some social media users were keen to follow the proceedings commending some of the lawyers for their presentations while others chose to share their lack of interest in the court proceedings.

The Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) was on the trending topics on Thursday after the police chased away Opposition leaders as well as National Super alliance (NASA) supporters who had gathered at the airport for a press briefing.

The Opposition is currently embroiled in a back-and-forth with authorities over planned public gatherings.
