Governor Laboso Denies Keeping Gifts Uhuru Gave Musician

Bomet Governor Joyce Laboso has refuted damning claims by a local musician that had cast aspersions on her character.

Marion Cherotich, a secular artiste, accused Dr Laboso of failing to give her ‘gifts’ from President Uhuru Kenyatta and William Ruto for a song she sang in praise of Jubilee during the election period.

Cherotich further accused the Governor of denying her an invitation card to State House, Nairobi during the Jamhuri Day celebrations.

However, the Governor dismissed the allegations, stating that they were far-fetched.

In a statement signed on her behalf by County Director of Communication, Laboso stated that all musicians who were invited for events were compensated.

She denied receiving a car or a tractor on behalf of the musician from any leader.

Cherotich, an upcoming secular artiste, made the allegations during an interview on a radio show on Thursday morning.

She alleged that she lived from hand to mouth despite rubbing shoulders with the President during Jubilee campaigns.

The musician also stated that Ms Korir, the Governor's Personal Assistant, took Sh250,000 she was given by the DP during a visit to Sugoi in Eldoret.
