Alfred Keter Names 2 Leaders Misleading Uhuru on Parliamentary Appointments

Nandi Hills Member of Parliament, Alfred Keter, on Friday named two legislators he claimed are misleading President Uhuru Kenyatta regarding parliamentary committees.

Speaking during an interview on NTV, Keter claimed that Majority Leader of the National Assembly Aden Duale and Mumias East MP Benjamin Washiali were giving the President wrong information regarding the proceedings of House Committees.

"Duale and Washiali are misleading the President. They went straight away to confuse the DP. They said we agreed but we hadn't agreed.

"We saw the role of the DP (William Ruto). He was closer to Duale & Washiali," revealed Keter.

The MP, who was elected to head the Labour Committee, further revealed that the Executive was trying to control and give direction on how committees are run.

"I have told the President, in person, and the DP that it is wrong to interfere with the business of Parliament.

"There is no political party that has powers to order or direct how Parliament runs," he remarked.

He further accused Duale and Washiali of colluding with cartels that are milking the National Social Security Fund (NSSF).

Washiali, however, stated he was fighting for inclusivity in House Committees as Jubilee Party should incorporate regional balance.

"The issue that Hon. Keter is talking about is actually a master plan given by the party that we have to share slots meant for committee leadership.

"Keter should leave the President and DP Ruto out of this," remarked Washiali.

President Kenyatta on Thursday ordered four House committees to remove their chairman in favour of Jubilee Party preferences.

It is alleged that Keter and three other MPs had been going against the President's leadership thus creating friction with leaders in Jubilee ranks.
