Opposition Leader Raila Odinga on Monday stated that he was ready to have his father's wealth audited.
The Orange Democratic Movement leader expressed his readiness to sacrifice those dear to him to win the war against corruption.
Odinga responded to those demanding that the graft war is backdated to independence struggle era leaders, declaring he was willing to go all the way to ensure the country was rescued from the yoke of corruption.
The former Prime Minister was responding to calls by some Members of Parliament for the investigation of the founding President Jomo Kenyatta's source of wealth.
Raila noted that some leaders were engaging in sideshows in efforts to stop the war on graft which President Uhuru Kenyatta recently started.
Speaking in Kisumu, Raila accused critics of the lifestyle audit of attempting to divert the attention of Kenyans through sideshows.
“Just like Uhuru recently stated that he is ready to have his grandfather’s wealth audited, I also ask them to audit me, my father and even my grandfather,” the ODM leader stated.
He further stated that the country would not be suffering effects of inflation were it not for corruption that has seen officials take advantage of their offices to syphon public funds.
Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi, in June, was quoted stating that the lifestyle audit launched by the President should be extended to Jomo Kenyatta.
Last week, President Kenyatta dared critics of the audit, stating he was ready to have it even backdated to his grandfather.
