Exposed: Aisha Jumwa's Close Aide Involved in More Gun Drama

Days after the gun drama involving Malindi MP Aisha Jumwa, damning details have emerged about her aide, Geoffrey Okuto Otieno, who was arrested alongside the vocal legislator have emerged.

The incident that occurred on Tuesday, October 15, hit headlines when Jumwa with her aide stormed a meeting at Ganda MCA seat aspirant Reuben Katana's home where one man identified as Gumbao Jola, an uncle to the aspirant, was shot dead.

The Daily Nation on Sunday, October 20, revealed that Otieno has been involved in more gun drama two years prior.

Describing him as a dark, well-built man, the publication disclosed that the Tuesday incident wasn't the first time he was involved in gun drama.

In April 2017, Otieno was involved in a commotion during the ODM primaries ahead of that year's General Election.

At that time, he was vying for the Hospital Ward civic seat. According to police reports, Otieno was armed with a pistol at Mathare 4B when he stormed his competitors' meeting.

He is alleged to have incited a confrontation, after his competitors, Seff Kibira and Kennedy Ooko had finished addressing supporters at Kosovo and Mucedo areas.

Otieno was arrested and charged in court for misusing a firearm that endangered the lives of those present. The charge sheet stated that Otieno fired at his opponent's supporters in the scuffle.

He was, however, released on a bond of Sh50,000 or a cash bail of Sh30,000 by Chief Magistrate Francis Andayi.

In an unexpected twist, the charges were dropped after the complainants failed to show up in court to give evidence.

On Thursday, October 17 2019, Jumwa and her aide Geofrey were released on a cash bail of Ksh500,000 or Ksh1 million bond.
