Nkaissery Reveals the Procurement Threat in Uhuru's Office

Interior Cabinet Secretary, Joseph Nkaissery, has admitted the presence of a powerful broker and cartels who have been interfering with issuance of tenders in the office of President Uhuru Kenyatta and that of his deputy, William Ruto.

Nkaissery, whose Ministry has recently been on the spot for alleged irregular multi-billion purchase of security ammunition, was appearing before the Parliamentary Accounts Committee (PAC).

He said that he had to directly address the President, requesting for support to eliminate a supposed unnamed broker who had been battling to win influential contracts.

“I had to go to the President myself during my first 90 days in office after I found a heavy traffic of vendors and cartels,” he said.

He further accused the same cartels and broker of infiltrating and compromising members of the PAC, claiming that they had sponsored some of the concerns being raised on the purchase after failing to net the tenders.

Few months ago, President Kenyatta publicly admitted that corruption was rampant within the government, citing his own office.

This comes in the backdrop of massive public outcry over corruption scams unearthed in various ministries and government departments.

Devolution ministry has been worst hit after revelations of loss of Billions in the National Youth Service, Youth Enterprise Development Fund and overspending in the Ministry.
