Migori Governor Okoth Obado's bodyguard John Chacha was on Monday arrested outside Milimani Law Courts.
According to reports by Citizen Digital, Chacha was apprehended by the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) sleuths moments before the governor was arraigned over the murder of Sharon Otieno.
Detectives were captured on video putting handcuffs on Chacha after taking away his gun.
The governor's bodyguard was to later be taken to the DCI offices for further questioning.
Detectives from the Central Intelligence Unit were reported to have established that Chacha’s phone was traced to the scene where Sharon was murdered.
However, the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission revealed that they were behind the arrest of Chacha for using academic certificates belonging to another public officer to secure employment.
The EACC maintained that they had received a tip-off that Obado's bodyguard had used certificates belonging to one Mr John Chacha Nyamohanga to get entry to the Administration Police Service in 2006.
"EACC Kenya forwarded the file to the DPP who gave consent to arrest and initiate criminal proceedings against Mr John Chacha Nyamohanga alias Mwita Moses Mogaya with the offence of personation of a person named in a certificate contrary to Section 384 of the Penal Code," the statement read.
He will be arraigned before the Anti-Corruption Court in Milimani Nairobi today 24th September 2018
His arrest comes barely four days after detectives nabbed another bodyguard assigned to the governor, Calvins Omondi.
Omondi was nabbed when he escorted another suspect Caspar Obiero, a personal assistant to the governor, to the Oyugis police station.
