Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka Lashes Out at Moses Wetangula Over Luhya Unity

Senate Speaker Kenneth Lusaka has condemned Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetangula and his Amani National Congress (ANC) counterpart Musalia Mudavadi over their alleged plan to form a  Mulembe Party.

Speaking in Bungoma, Lusaka noted that the leaders should think of forming a party with a national outlook.

"Whereas we support people uniting, the idea of forming a Mulembe party is ill-advised.

"If formed, it will go nowhere. Kenya has 42 tribes. Let Musalia and Wetangula join other national leaders in ensuring the country moves in one direction," asserted the Speaker.

The two leaders had over the weekend pledged to form a party aimed at forging Luhya's unity.

The two NASA co-principals have separately been reported to exclaim that they resolve to put any divisions aside that may stand in the way of the bid to galvanise the Luhya vote.

The speaker told off Wetangula and Mudavadi claiming that they are only pushing for Luhya Unity "after getting frustrated in NASA."

"We have always called for Luhya unity, but this should not only be propelled when an individual’s self-interest is at stake,” commented Lusaka.

Lusaka further added that he had warned the two against joining NASA but the duo opted to "insult me."

"When we dissolved the New Ford Kenya party to be part of Jubilee, we had seen far. Had Ford Kenya, ANC and ODM dissolved to form NASA, Wetang’ula could not have suffered" he added.

Additionally, the speaker advised that anybody advocating for unity should be genuine and respect other leaders with divergent opinions.
