Raila Odinga Meets European Union Delegation to Kenya

National Super Alliance (NASA) leader Raila Odinga on Wednesday skipped a joint event that he was expected to attend together with President Uhuru Kenyatta for a meeting he held with European Union ambassadors.

Posting on Twitter, the Opposition leader exclaimed: "Earlier today, I was honoured to hold a meeting with the ambassadors of the member-countries of the @EUinKenya.

"I briefed the diplomats on political developments in the country and the region especially the handshake and my recent meeting with President Salva Kiir in Juba," Mr Odinga explained.

Additionally, the former Prime Minister stated: "I appreciated the support to our initiatives by the EU. I look forward to more similar engagements."

The ODM leader was expected to attend the event at Jacaranda grounds today (Wednesday) where the Head of State and his deputy William Ruto were issuing title deeds to residents of Embakasi Constituency.

Announcing about the ceremony, Embakasi East MP Babu Owino on Tuesday had declared: "Invitation to all Embakasi East constituents for the title deeds issuance function at the Jacaranda Grounds from 8 am. tomorrow (Wednesday). The event will be presided over by His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta and His Excellency Raila Odinga."

The event, which was also attended by Cabinet Secretaries, Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko, MPs and a number of MCAs,  saw the President issue 50,000 title deeds to the residents.

In his speech during the event, Uhuru talked tough warning unnamed individuals against threatening him.

He demanded that all people should focus on building the country and that he should be respected.

The President did not hide his disdain for politicians attacking his decision to work with the Opposition leader noting that he had every right to engage anyone who has the best interest of the country at heart.
