10 Ex-Police Officers in Prophet Owuor Security Detail Face Action

10 former police officers who were in Prophet Owuor’s security detail during his mega crusade at Central Park risk disciplinary action.

The security personnel has been summoned to appear in the police headquarters to explain why they showed up at the event.

The summons came in amidst growing concerns about their involvement in promoting Prophet Owuor’s controversial 'miracles'.

Nairobi Commandant Joseph Ole Tito conformed that the group was comprised of police and military officers who had either been sacked or had retired.

“I can positively confirm their identity as former officers.”

He, however, refused to explain further why they had been summoned.

“I can't comment further on the issue,” he told Kenyans.co.ke.

The tight security accorded to the self-proclaimed prophet raised eyebrows with many netizens who took to social media to criticize him.

Ole Tito, however, explained the reason for the numerous armed uniformed officers who were in the prayer meeting.

“We anticipated that many people would attend the event and that’s why you saw many uniformed police officers. We did not want to get blamed for security lapses,” the commandant noted.

The uniformed Police officers who were also recorded announcing the prophet’s crusade in Nairobi have also been summoned and could face action.

The officers were caught on camera on July 5 at the National Archives advertising the prayer meeting using loudspeakers.
