Simon Gicharu

Simon Gicharu is the founder of Mt Kenya University. At the age of 46 years, Gicharu became the youngest Kenyan to have established a chartered university in the country

The institution provides a yearly scholarship for underprivileged Kenyan students including the April 2019 edition where scholarships worth Ksh5 million were awarded.

In the past, the institution has partnered with Partners for Care (PFC), a local NGO to sustain an aggressive anti-jigger campaign in Marsabit County.

Chris Kirubi

Dr. Chris Kirubi is a leading Kenyan entrepreneur with investments in the Media, Manufacturing, Property Management, Insurance and Investment Sectors of our economy.

He is an alumnus of INSEAD Institute in France, Handles University in Sweden and Harvard Business School, USA.

In acknowledgment of his contributions to the field of entrepreneurship, he was conferred with an Honorary Philosophical Doctorate in Entrepreneurship by the SMA University, Switzerland.

Sylvia Mulinge

Sylvia Mulinge is the Chief Customer Officer for Safaricom Plc

During her tenure, the company has introduced numerous projects to support underserved members of society including the MPesa Foundation, Safaricom Foundation, Ghetto Classics and Blaze Be Your Own Boss project for the youth.

In June 2019, Mulinge was inducted as the fourth member of the UN women initiative,  Unstereotype Alliance, chaired by Phumzile Mlambo – Ngcuka, the UN Women Executive Director.

Tabitha Karanja

Tabitha Karanja is the CEO of Keroche Breweries the first large brewery in Kenya owned by a non-multinational company.

She is among the few women who are trailblazing their way in high positions in largely men-oriented industries like the liquor industry.

In 2016, she was recognised for her fighting spirit and entrepreneurial mind and awarded the Entrepreneurial Excellence in Africa Award in the Lifetime Africa Achievement Prize in Accra, Ghana.

Brenda Wairimu

Brenda Wairimu is a seasoned actress and TV host, making appearances in several television series.

The Mombasa-born superstar made her debut to television in 2009 when she was cast as one of the actresses in, Changing Times, a pulsating TV drama that aired on KTN. She played Shareefah together with an ensemble cast of Nice Githinji and Ian Mugoya. 

She also starred in Mali, Shuga, Scandals Kibao and Kona.

Vimal Shah

Vimal Shah is the founder and former CEO of Bidco that manufactures edible oils. He founded the company alongside his father and brother in 1985.

In 2019, the company expanded into the food and beverage category as a move that positions the company to become the leading manufacturer of consumer goods in East Africa.

It boasts of a portfolio of over 40 brands with over 25,000 employees.

Bharat Thakrar

Bharat is the founding shareholder of the WPP-Scangroup and current CEO of the WPP-Scangroup PLC.

He has working experience in advertising and communications spanning over thirty six years.

He holds a Diploma in Advertising and Marketing from the Communications and Marketing Foundation – UK.

He is a former chairman of the Advertising Practitioners Association (APA) and is a member of the Advertising Standards Board.

 

Wachira Waruru

Wachira Waruru is the Group Managing Director of Royal Media Services which owns Citizen TV, Inooro TV and 12 other radio stations.

In September this year, under his supervision, the station’s elite investigative reporters Asha Mwilu and Waihiga Mwaura exposed brazen corruption that cost the Maasai Mara University approximately Ksh190 million.

Vice-Chancellor Mary Walingo was kicked sent on compulsory leave on Wednesday, September 11, soon after the damning exposé on Citizen TV.

Yusuf Haji

Born on December 23, 1940, in Garissa District in the North Eastern Province (Northern Frontier District).

For his post-secondary education, Haji earned a diploma from the University of Birmingham, where he majored in Management and Finance Control.

Haji began his professional career in administration and management. He joined the Provincial Administration of Kenya as a District Officer and went on to serve as Provincial Commissioner between 1970 and 1997.
